Music

GENERAL INFORMATION

Music at TYPA is for students of all ages as well as abilities. We offer 30, 45, or 60 minutes of private music instruction in Cello, Flute, Guitar, Piano, Violin, and Voice. We also offer group lessons for flute, guitar, and the “Chanterelles” children’s choir.

Our music instructors are exceptionally talented with a wealth of experience, and most possess Master of Music degrees specializing in music performance with many still performing in recitals and concerts throughout the year.

Students should either own or rent their own instrument for weekly practice. While TYPA doesn’t sell or rent instruments, we can assist you in finding one either to buy or for rent. A music recital will be held at the end of the school year and each student has the option to participate.

Music Agreement

Music lessons can begin at any time during the semester depending on availability and lessons will be prorated from the actual starting date.

Every parent and student is required to read and understand the TYPA Music Agreement. The Music Agreement is available at the TYPA office, on our website, or in the TYPA Music Notebook.

Please do not enroll in the TYPA music program unless you are able to make a weekly commitment to your music lessons. In the
event you are not able to make a class, a friend or family member will not be allowed to take that class for you unless they are already a student of the same TYPA music teacher.

* Each student is only allowed one make up lesson per semester (except Camp Taiwan).

Please note that there may be additional costs for music books.

Recitals

There will be an annual music recital held at the end of the Spring semester. It will take place in April and/or May on the Taipei American School campus. The music recital is an excellent opportunity for students to boost their confidence and show off their skills in front of an audience!

Cancellation & Makeup Lesson

After the second class of the semester, no credits or refunds will be given due to withdrawals. There will be no credit or makeup for missed group and semi-private lessons. Private lessons are allowed one cancellation per semester, but the cancellation must be done at least 24 hours prior to your lesson time.
