Karate has been practiced for centuries for self-defense and is divided up into three components: Kihon(basics), Kata (form), and Kumite (sparring). Karate is an excellent form of exercise that builds character and improves self-confidence. Students will be taught in different groups based on their skill level. Ideal for all ages, karate can be learned from five years and up but only older students with more experience will get to experience Kumite.
In this class, students will learn karate’s basic blocking skills as well as basic punch and kicks. These skills are vital as the first step of sparring which will be experienced in the next level of Karate. In addition, students will also be introduced to the first movements of “Kata”.
Karate 2 builds on skills learned in Karate 1 and will strengthen defense skills as well as counter attacks. As students advances to this class, they will be able to strengthen their ability of confrontation and defense reaction. More advanced forms of “Kata” will also be emphasized.
In Karate 3, students will advance to more complex skills of defense and counter attacks. They will practice various types of strikes and kicks with the goal of “free sparring”. In free sparring practice, students will learn to deal with their opponent’s attack and learn the deeper forms of “Kata”.
