Aikido

Aikido in its present form was developed in Japan in the early 20th century. Aikido is seen not only as a system of self-defense, but also as a means of self-cultivation and improvement. It is unique among martial arts in that the majority of techniques are based on aggressors making the first move and using their energy and momentum to neutralize them.

On a physical level, Aikido involves some throws and joint locks. It focuses not in punching or kicking, but rather on using the opponent’s energy to gain control and throw him away from you.
