ITF Taekwon-Do follows the Taekwon-Do tenets and philosophy of its founder, General Choi Hong Hi. Its philosophy is based on the essential tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. There is a heavy emphasis on theory and philosophy, patterns and technical perfection, as well as the sporting aspects.
This class works on conditioning through various basic stances, and hand and foot techniques such as kicks, blocks and strikes. Also, we will be working on self-defense and danger awareness in class. By learning these fundamentals, children will enhance their physical, emotional, and intellectual skills. This course is suitable for first graders, as it embraces games and drills for a fun and educational class.
Taekwon-Do 2 continues to work on skills learned in the first class. Ages are more advanced. This course introduces new complex techniques of kicks, blocks and strikes, as well as self-defense moves, patterns and sparring drills. We will also keep working on areas such as danger awareness and the philosophy “DO” of ITF Taekwon-Do.
Taekwon-Do 3 encompasses advanced forms of steps, sparring, and double/triple combinations, including jump and spin techniques and double kicks with alternate legs. Training includes defense tactics and sparring with light contact (pads for safety), arms sparring and learning competition rules.
