DRESS CODE POLICY

The TYPA Dance Department has a dress code for all dance classes. It is the student’s responsibility to acquire the appropriate attire necessary for individual classes.

Appropriate Classroom Attire

Dancers need to wear stretchy clothes. Jazz shoes should be worn for traction. Hair should be off the face for turns and jumps.

COURSES

Jazz for Kids

Start your children off on the dance path by enrolling them in this class. This class will awaken children’s sensitivity to rhythm and to their bodies. Coordination, balance and fun movement will be the focus of this class.

Jazz (Beginning)

This class is an introduction to the jazz world. Basic jazz dance steps and rhythms will be introduced in the class. Students will be able to dance with music and have fun!

Jazz 1

Further jazz techniques and movements will be introduced in the class and students will become more aware of their movements to different rhythms. Kicks, jumps, body stretches and basic jazz routines will be practiced during the class.

Jazz 2

At this level, basic techniques are strengthened with emphasis on body coordination, flexibility and choreography.

Jazz 3 & 4

Emphasis at this level is placed on technique, advanced movements, complex jazz routines and choreography. This class will also teach students how to dance with feeling and strength to make the dance come alive.

Jazz (Advanced)

This jazz level stresses strong technique, flexibility, coordination and balance with an emphasis on complex jazz choreography. Popular stage dance routines and a variety of jazz dance steps will be practiced in the class.
